Question Emu Requirments...

Why do emulators recommend a more powerfull cpu than a graphics card?

Because the bulk of the emulation will be done using the CPU.. For instance epsxe: CD rom emulation, controllers, memcards, spu, gte, and a lot of other things are done by the CPU.. The graphics card deals with the gpu.. Plus, most emulators don't use hardware for displaying graphics.. Most of em use software rendering which is almost completely cpu dependent..

However, when it comes down to it, a newer video card does much better. You could very well turn off the sound and make an ISO of the game. However, to get that blazing fast speed, upgrade your video card.

Bllx.
Back when I had a Voodoo 5 w/ 650Mhz, going to a GeForce 3 made no difference (in fact it slowed it as I could no longer use Glide), but upgrading to the 1600+ made a huge difference.
Emu's are almost totaly dependant on CPU. Don't believe me? Try running Xenogears on a TNT original, then try on a GeForce 3 or 4. As long as you didn't go overkill on the resoloution (using 1600x1200 rather than the recommended 640x480), you'll see little or no difference.

So emu's being dependant on cpu, does this apply to PC games as well?

Nope. Some PC games are CPU reliant (Unreal Tournament 2k3) and some are GPU dependant (according to many sources Doom 3)

Not as much. For pc games usually a good balance between the vid card, cpu, memory is recommended
