Nope. A rating system like that was tried a few months ago and it didn't work.

Hmm

Well done Bobbi and Admin team...

The Watcher has graced these forums for 10 months...since then we have achieved 300+ posts and a title of "Emulation Expert" and 4 stars.....At this rate it would appear to take us a full year and half to achieve what took most of you a few weeks....

So what.....We know that every single post has helped someone in some way...so in a sense the "Emulation Expert" title is quite fitting is it not?

Er.....looks like we got promoted

Big deal if you have 1000+ posts especially if they had little to no point....It's not like Bobbi will mail ya a big NGEmu badge of honor and a box of chocolates....
(If we are wrong then we will begin posting nonsense...Bobbi we enjoy Dark Chocolate and Peanut butter...send it to our cave anytime )

By the way...If you have 1000+ posts but have been here for like ..er..ever....then obviously this doesn't apply to you...hahaha

as far as the BAN thing...well...just don't piss anyone off...then there is nothing to worry about....If you do feel the need to upset people the please enjoy the no expense paid 30 day vacation ![

Oh, I agree, Dark Watcher. Titles/ stars should be given on number of constructive posts. I'll be the first to admit I stray from the emulation forums, but I'd like to think that a good proportion of my posts are relevent and helpful.

Ooh, a question just popped up in my mind. Will *every* part of the OffTopic Sectionbe without postcounting? I think the software, hardware and web development should stay the way they are. In this forums people get help and not (maybe) useless discussion.

Software and Hardware discussion won't be affected by this new rule.

Hey, I just noticed it's still possible to view the postcount by accessing the profile.

[edit:] What is the maximum star count? Still 7 for normal users?

I have a question. If you post a useless post/thread in either Off-Topic or Test/spam, will they give you more ban points? I ask this cause they don't bring you're post count up. Especially in the Test/spam forum.

[edit] Oh, I have another question. On the members page, will the Top 10 posters link still be there? Since post counts are hidden, will this be hidden as well?

Ban Points only apply to misplaced posts. So watch where you post, people!

And yes, You can still see the rankings in the Members page. So far i'm still Number 2.

Oh, so if they are misplaced that goes to you ban points. That's good cause i never misplace my posts.

I can see the members' list as well (I'm 47th btw, and slowly climbing on that list ), but I wanted to know if they are going to hide it.

Totally agree with this new system. The stars are there to show how the person is useful, not how fast he can chat. The new ban system will be quite good also, and I hope this will be implemented soon.

A big change for the boards, but a change for good.

hehe, I missed the Location under our names.

Yeah, good to see location's back and replaces the postcount - which is something none of us should actually pay much attention to imho. As was said in " A lonely night - part II", it's the quality of the posts that counts, not quantity. Hell, if there'd be a way to measure the number of lengthy posts a member posted, I'm pretty sure I'd be at the top of the list

You can still see it. Just look in your profile.

[edit] Now the post counts are hidden in your profile.
