So that's why it's nerdy to beat those mainstream conditions.

You simply feel better if you put decent effort to play with same speed and quality as the "competition".

The best news around gtx 680 are possible AMD price drops, since just everybody agreed gtx 580 was a great buy and
the HD7950 is much better.

$1000? No thanks. That makes the 8800 Ultra look like a bargain.

You should consider the actual performance of the card, combined with gpu chip availability shortcomings.

It's a holydays trip price. There are folks who are dining for 100$ each weak. And if some of them fancy gaming and nVidia they might just go for it.

There's a definite market for those cards out there. Back when ASUS did that crazy Mars dual GTX480 there was a local dude here who desperately wanted one but it was a major slog before ASUS SA could source one away from other international demand for him. At the time the card cost just about $2000 if you convert the price from what he paid locally.

You would pay the same for two GTX680s for sli though. If you could even get them right now anyways.

As far as wine gaming is concerned, yeah ATI ****ing sucks but hell, dual-boot.
Excuse me, what you are referring to as linux is in fact GNU/Linux or as I like to call it, GNU plus Linux.

I voted nvidia, I did try to buy a 680 though and .. ;_;

GTX 690 reviews is all over the net, matches/faster than a GTX 680 in SLI despite having lower clocks

True, but a single card could be a little cheaper. $799 would have made more sense, or even $850.

leaks of GTX 670 reviews are lurking in the net, slightly slower vs the GTX 680 but much smaller and is trading blows with the HD 7970

Don't just say it Viper, link to an actual review
http://hothardware.com/Reviews/NVIDI...gabyte/?page=1

Damn that card looks good. So good that the GTX570 isn't even considered in most of the reviews.
Still though I think it will be too expensive locally for me to consider (since it will likely hold a price point slightly above the GTX570). So I'll have to wait and see if a GTX660 is any good.

Looks like I'll be posting some pics from a new purchase soon.

Whilst it's stronger than a GTX580 I'm not sure I'd call it a sufficient jump for any GTX570 owners so I'd hold off on that if I were you, or get a GTX680.
