Death Star is surprisingly cheap...

http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/20...weapons-system

LOL.

Great economic refresh. Also tells you just how far we have gone as civilization... despite talks that the economy is having a recession.

In fact, I think it's simply that we are outgrowing the economy.

I'd bet anything that in the future, you could order Death Stars online... like pistols.

That might be, but I just think we'll blow ourselves back to the stoneage at some point... Fallout, here we come!

*starts building my own railway rifle*

Hmm, I wonder if they sell railway spikes at the local mall...

lol. This is cool because I just re-watched Star Wars again a few days ago. We need to start work to make that weapons station FULLY operational.......and for the love of good, put a door on the reactor shield and make sure your deflector shield does not get compromised by a couple of teddy bears.

Last time I checked one didn't need to get Aircraft carriers out into space so add another Qaudrazillionbajillion to the price for all the rockets and their fuel.

Load of crap.

When the gdp increases, it doesn't actually increase at all. The numbers are just inflated but the macros are worse.
In this real world, gdp decreases as the numbers go up.

The wages people earn today are a lot less than the average in 1950 if you adjust for inflation and cost price indexing. In whatever years they claim the gdp is above 20,000 times, the cost of steel would be more than 20,000 times more.
Todays quadragigataxmasterajillion price estimate doesn't apply after in the future.

Naturally it's BS. Not only would you need to build a Death Star, you'd need to power its internal systems (life support, ventillation, lights, computers, ...) and weapon systems (both the planet destroyer and the point-defense turrets), you'd need for it to have a self-sustaining ecosphere so you don't need to stock up on vast quantities of food, water and air, and, last but not least, you'd need to propell it. Just the fuel to move it from one system to another would cost a fortune.
But that's all part of standard suspension of disbelief.
