I think that we can't say if anything is sentient or not. The only way to tell if someting is sentient is if it says "I'm sentient", but Animals may not be able to understand our tounge, and we thiers. Thier vocal cords may not be able to form the sound that we classiffy as language.

There are pigs that can do arithmetic, and remember patterns too.

What made u think animals can't think?
They do think. Look at chimps, parrots(there is a human talking one). and the like. And why would dolphins have sex for fun, if they didn't think about it.

to be honest, i'm worrying about my capacity to think, i think(?!)i only act on instinct....

Animals can think , only not well enough to compete with humans . At least not yet . Elephants , for example , takes revenge for their dead family members or friends when they see the killer again , thats why hunters kill the whole group , young or old when they hunt for tusks.

That's pretty interesting. I sure hope it isn't some excuse by the hunters, 'tho.

probably. isn't it mostly illegal to hunt elephants, or is only certain types?

i really hate poachers and i'm not very fond about the whole hunting idea. i mean unless you're going to eat it, killing it is wrong.

That's a good standpoint! But it also depends on how they are killed.

Well . . . there's only two types, and they're both endangered, so I think it's illegal for any elephant.

And killing an animal is like killing a person. It shouldn't be done unless a life depended on their death.

To kill for pleasure is not even going back to our primal nature. At least our primal forebears only killed for food.

u've got it all wrong. hunters DO care about animals, why do u think we kill them with guns (a rather quick dead, exp. when the alturnative may very well be starvation cuz if there weren't ne hunters, there would be too many surplus animals running around, and not enough food to feed them all. starvation is a very slow and painful death, whereas shooting them with a rifle, pistol, or bow, is a quick and fairly painless death.). not to mention, the tags that are required for us to hunt. where do u think all that money goes to, the government¿ NO! it goes to the game commission, who, in turn, use the money to help preserve wildlife with their various doings (e.g. tagging animals so they can be better tracked, setting up wildlife rescues, ect.). don't base ur judgment solely on the actions of a few idiots (i.e. poachers). Me and my family eat every bit of what we harvest (and deer meat is VERY good, u should try some some time).

[edit] Exodus: most hunters (all of the ones that I know of) do eat what they harvest.

most hunters use firearms cause theyre too stupid to use a bow and to technologically adept to use an old time spear, also, firearms pack more punch. Btw, 1 normal gunshot to an elephant wont kill it, i think if theyre gonna kill it they should tranquilize them first to eliminate any pain

i say if you're going to hunt animals, you've got to fight one-on-one, fists vs. horns/teeth/claws/etc.
guns are cheap... unless the animals are using guns too.
