This news deserves a double-post: http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/4/306...e-htc-is-first HTC One X to get PlayStation branded. <= proud owner of an international One X.Hah, in YOUR FACE, Shamesung! On a more serious note, again, I still fail to see how the SGS3 is that much better than One X. Especially after this news. |

Wonder why you opted Tegra 3 against S4. S4 is better imo. And Exynos quad reigns over them. Wonder why they put 2gb of ram on the S4 version of the GS3.

S4 is better performance-wise, but here are a few criticisms against it: 1) Less games than Tegra 3 (read: significantly worse as a gaming device) 2) Dual core vs quad-core (well, some people care) 3) Carrier-branded, so expect "tough love". 4) Locked bootloader (oh ****) and unlock process is complicated + breaks official warranty definitively (you get a huge "tampered" sign in the bootloader screen). 5) Less stable ROM and OTA support being carrier-locked, plus different hardware. 6) No unlock available yet so I'd be stuck with AT&T, and I'm getting on a plane next week. 7) Only 16GB of internal storage I love this phone. It works very well, and I dare say... better than the GNex I had, which was no slouch by any standard. However, I'd be caught dead with a Galaxy S3 in one hand and iPhone 4 in the other before you find me with an AT&T-branded One X. So no S4. As for the SGS3, I'd tolerate Exynos 4, but lack of games (especially now that the One X has been branded a PlayStation phone) puts me off by a mile. More performance is worthless if the phone doesn't have anything that would take advantage of that extra horse power. I think Exynos 4 is better off being in a tablet with ultra high resolution. 2GB RAM is without a single doubt some quick fix because the **** carriers put in the phone would bog it down so hard that it makes the iPhone 3G look like a multitasking champ. Plus Samsung would have to have something to defer the performance difference between S4 and Exynos 4, otherwise people will say the carrier-branded phones are "crippled". But regardless, the carrier-branded phones are "crippled". And I simply don't like the "Palm Pre" look of the SGS3, so that's why... One X for me. In another piece of good news for Samsung, it looks like the US carriers are going to be selling the SGS3 without design or name changes. This is yet one more piece of evidence that Samsung is now becoming the new Apple, since it was only Apple that had this kind of leverage with the carriers before (not sure if it'll have exactly the same software though). The phone is also launching in the US a lot sooner than the SGS2 did, which is also another good sign (I think the failure to launch the S2 in the US until November crippled the momentum of the phone). The US carriers are accepting pre-orders right now. As for looks, I like the streamlined look of the S3. The One X looks kind of squarish and rough by comparison (plus I think it would have been better if they used white all around, instead of just on the back and sides).

Me either SCHUMI I much prefer to have black tech personally. I am still on a single core Samsung Galaxy Prevail that has a tiny 3.2" screen. I use my Nook Tablet for anything that really needs a screen. I use my phone for music, calling, texting and thats it.

I need to complete my plugin that replace the word "Apple" with "Enemy" and every "i" device into "iSh**" to be able to view this thread in a more confortable way. Sad the ngemu filter does not have those included ![]() In a more serious note HTC and Samsung are doing an amazing job this days, i personally can't wait to get my hands on a SGS3. My HTC Desire HD is still great but i think i need a new phone soon

My Desire HD is no more (broken) ~ I'm using my old winmo phone atm (HTC Diamond). I still have my Android tablet though (a cheap chinese model with custom ICS rom), so I'm still in the Android game* ![]() The phone supports tethering via ad-hoc wifi; To get the tablet to connect I needed a hack for android but at least it ended up working. The phone runs ridiculously hot though, and drains its battery within an hour (it normally lasts over a day) when I use wifi tethering. It's probably safe to do, but still a bit alarming. *(In addition I can also run XDAndroid on the Diamond; I'm using a Froyo build. It's far from optimal, but the phone functions work as they should and I can still play scrabble too )

Don't know why the phone heats up and eats battery life so much tethering when the tethered device barely uses the internet

It seems to start to heat up as soon as the client (tablet) is connected. I use a hack to leave wifi running with the phone screen turned off ~ this seems to help a little. I'm just a little bit afraid I might kill the phone (or drastically shorten its lifespan) because of how hot it runs. On the plus side, it IS the old phone which was supposed to be a spare. It's already 4 years old, but the original battery is in an ok state. When using it normally, it easily lasts for over a day, which is not bad for a smart phone, especially not a 4 year old one. I have a third-party replacement battery which seems to perform equally under normal usage, but I haven't tested that one with tethering (yet). |

I think white is just an aesthetic reason. Some guys want to look a bit more feminine to attract women. And hey, you really can't deny that there are some out there who buy cool gadgets just to attract women. A cool white phone accomplishes 3 things: 1) Show the feminine side. Ladies love this for some reason. 2) It's a smartphone, so naturally, the owner must be smart! 3) It's an expensive phone, so naturally, the owner must be rich! |

Here's a practical reason. Fingerprints aren't as obvious on the white iPhone/iPod/iPad than it is on black models so they require less cleaning. I've noticed the same thing on my Piano Black and Ceramic White PSP's (PSP-1000).

But the white One X has a matte finish as opposed to the smooth glass finish on the iPhone/iPod/iPad/PSP, so not only does it still show fingerprints (even more than the black model), it also shows other blemishes quite plainly. Worse yet, it's not easy to clean being a matte surface.Honestly, I understand that white with smooth surface would eliminate fingerprints, but on the One X, I can't seem to find any practical reason for the color to be there other than that... it's there. |

I know Apple nowadays makes more color variations, and black products (the accessories are all still white though, which isn't a really good looking combination IMO). However, when someone sets a trend, followers come after that, and that's what's going on right now. Nintendo is the worst offender. They made this grey/black DS, meanwhile Apple was doing cool things, the DS became a hit and promptly there was this new design for Nintendo products closely mimicking Apple. As for HTC... the old phone I'm using again now, the HTC Diamond, was actually a far more original design than their more recent products, and while the screen was small, it had a pixel density that we would call "retina" nowadays

Yea. I think personally that not just any screen under 300ppi can be considered "Retina"... But what the hell. Apple eschewed their own definition, so let them own up to it. ![]() On a side note, at this point, I really do think that HTC has a strong candidate with the HTC One X this time around. If they can work out the rest of the software kinks, I don't doubt that it'd be among the best Android devices (if not the best) on the market. I haven't had as many good praises for a device like this ever since the iPhone 4. Something just feels like it has caught up... |

The One-X seems like a return to form of sorts (even if it's white ), last 2 year's models were really generic (with the exception of the Hero)

What are you talking about? The Sensation was awesome...but for some reason went almost completely ignored especially it's later XE version which was the SGS2's power equal if not better.
