Umm... you know you don't need to make the video 16:9 with black bars to make youtube activate HD... (it just ends up giving 4:3 sceen users a window-boxed video)

Here's an example video: YouTube - Cruis'n World Arcade - France HD
Set your screen to a 4:3 resolution and then hit fullscreen to see what I mean.

But why would I do that when I can just crop it, Not all GC games are 4:3 so I can stay with the same resolution an not risk losing video quality through Compression when I encode it.

People with widescreen monitors won't notice any difference anyway.

Huh? What does that have to do with anything? All YouTube needs is a video with a height greater than 720 and a width more than 1280. You could use some funky res like 1321x896 and it should still give you HD. I'm also pretty sure that youtube won't change the aspect ratio either. (hang on I'll try to find an example)

EDIT: here you go, a video with a 5:4 ratio (1280x1024 downscaled to 900x720): YouTube - Just be (HD version 1280X1024)

And people with widescreen would notice a difference since 720p is 16:9 and most widescreen monitors are 16:10. (though barely any with the bar at the bottom) This becomes much more noticable if the user (like me) downloads the video before watching (maybe because their CPU is too slow for HD in flash, but a media player is fine).

Again, Youtube HD will only display at the exact 1280x720 res, so capturing anything higher will result in a more "Rough" compression and a poorer quality video once uploaded. Anyway, I'm now uploading Dragons Lair 3D in 16:9 res

Any games you would like to see?

Learn More : Optimizing your video uploads - YouTube Help

Notice how it says a 4:3 video should be 640x480 (SD) and a High def video should be 1280x720.

Oh, I get it - you don't like the resizeing of the video :P I figured the resizing would make up for the lack of anti-aliasing though...

Games? Uh... well, even though F-Zero GX isn't playable yet (runs though), it DOES have a widescreen option, though you'd need to manually stretch the video to make the widescreen fit.

Other than that, I think we should cover the typical Nintendo games that are currently lacking in HD videos (AKA Zelda TP, Metroid Prime 1/2, etc).

Speaking of Zelda TP, are you able to do Wii games as well?

EDIT: And screw what the "optimizing your video uploads" thing says :P That's just trying to be idiot-proof. Notice how that's SD 4:3 they're talking about? They make no mention of HD 4:3 (or non-16:9), probably because most HD VIDEOS are widescreen - but games stuck at 4:3 can be rendered into hi-res as well. Besides, there's that 5:4 video I linked to before that denies these so called "requirements."

Tales Of Symphonia: DOTNW
Tetsuko....something VS Capcom

I have RE 4 on GC and Wii, I have only ripped the GC version.

[EDIT]

And just to make you happy I'll try a 1280x1024 on the next one.....

Hmmm, Just Tried 1280x1024, Dolphin had to run windowed for that res as my monitor is widescreen. Dolphin+Windowed+fraps=slooooooow. I did try 1024x768 though and that worked fine, That will not come up as HD on youtube though.

wtf did you do XD There should at least be SOMETHING, like 1360x1024 or 1600x1200.

It's weird, My monitor is widescreen up to 1920x1080, but dolphin will not let me run any 4:3 ratio (Apart from 1024x768) in full screen, It's only dolphin that does this.

Nope, I wouldn't need to if I am running a 4:3 resolution.

New one.

That's really odd. will have to look into the resolution detection code.
