Using an ISO for MAC n PCSX

I was able to extract a Brave Fencer Musashi from the disc I have that barely works, but now I do not know how to activate it in PCSX. Help please.

Try this. To install just right click on PCSX, "Show Package Contents", Contents > Plugins, and drop the plugin in there.

Then change the plugin settings to use CDR mooby. Whenever you go to open a disc from now on, it should instead pop up with a file browser window.

Ill try it. Thank you

For some reason I cannot open the link and going to the actual website will not let open the link there either. Though I did find a nice N64 emulator there. I cannot find a macport anywhere else. Would downloading the game straight to a DVD-R disc be the smae thing as fuax mounting or using a plugin

Well, do you have permission to edit the Plugins folder? It sounds like you don't have permission to edit the folder, and the lack of any way to authenticate yourself (password prompt) suggests you only have read-only permissions.

Try this, right click on PCSX.app, select Get Info, and check under Sharing and Permissions whether you are allowed write access. If not then just change it so that you do.

i finally figured it out last night once: i did not have pcsx as an application, but as a driver. once i changed it i was able to use it.

i'm also having trouble with it freezing at the first battle in ff7; and ff9 only comes through in sound and colored blocks, except for the publisher's screen and the new game/ continue screen. any ideas?

Your FFIX problem sounds like you're running on a PowerPC Mac or through Rosetta. That, or you have the dynamic recompiler on.

I wrote a little guide for FFIX on my blog a while ago. I played through the entire game and documented all the bugs and problems I encountered, as well as provide fixes if it was possible.

My Take: PCSX Guide - Final Fantasy IX

Try this link for FFVII. I know the fix is there somewhere.

Final Fantasy 7 - the Macscene Wiki

first, thank you for replying to all my posts. i literally just discovered torrents and emulators this week haha. so i have no idea what words mean or what i'm doing.

i do believe it's a PPC Mac, although i do not know what that means in comparison to an Intel Mac. i noted that in your requirements you have an Intel Mac, so... You also have ePSXe using a CrossOver Mac or Windows or a CrossOver Game. I'm not sure i have that either. in any case, i tried running the game using the configuration you have displayed, but i just get a black screen.

As for ff7, i went to that link you provided and i think i found what my problem is, although i do not know what a SegFault is. Unfortunately, the solution is as follows: "???"

I'd appreciate any help you could offer. Also, i was wondering if you knew how to - well, i don't know what the word is - put, say, all the cds of a particular game on your computer so that you could run the game in the emulator without having to hold on to the discs. i'm not talking about getting them from the internet - i actually have the discs.

Thanks a real lot, man.

To know if it's a PPC Mac for sure, click on the Apple Menu and then "About This Mac". If you have a PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 then you obviously have a PowerPC Mac. The problem with FFIX unfortunately is that you need an Intel Mac to play it in PCSX.

Again, if you happen to have a PPC Mac then you're out of luck. You need to find some way to run ePSXe to get past certain parts of the game that crash under PCSX. But is PCSX isn't going to run either way...

It actually sounds more like the "Slow Combat" problem, except instead of just becoming visibly slow, it's slowed to a stop. Do you turned Dynarec off when you play FFVII?

That's a legal grey area and we're banned from talking about it around here. I do know how to do it but then again I'm legally allowed to know. Making copies of digital media that you own has been legal in Australia for more than two years now.

ok, i do have an Intel Mac. Hooray! so what does tat mean as far as the black screen problem?

ff7 now works after turning the Dynarec core off, thank you.

and i didn't realize that making copies was illegal as long as you didn't intend to distribute. That's unfortunate.

I don't know why it's not working for you. Do you get any sound at all?

No problem.

Like I said, it's a legal grey area. I believe the general thing against fair use ripping is the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act). Nobody will start suing, however, unless you make your copying known. What company would go after one person copying a few discs they own so they could use them in another form? None that I know of.

That's really strange. There are only a few things I know of that would do this and I'm pretty sure we've ruled them all out.

Here's my list.
  • Wrong BIOS
  • Using the PAL version
  • Dynarec turned on
  • PPC Mac
  • Simulate BIOS is on
  • Bad part of the game
  • No BIOS
  • BIOS in the wrong place
  • Game is broken

In case you don't see it, try running PCSX-Reloaded to see if it fixes your problems.

Hey there, I've been having a remedial problem that you all may laugh at me about, but anyways here it is. I've been trying to run the game Darkstone from an ISO I downloaded from *removed* and haven't had much luck in playing it using PCSX (for mac). Every time I try to run one of the ".bin" files it says that "Error! Could not check CD-ROM" Any ideas on how to fix this so I may play this game from my earlylife???
