Billionaire Rumored To Be Building JURASSIC PARK

You can’t outrun a raptor! Unfortunately for the world (but fortunately for us nerds), billionaire Clive Palmer has either never seen Jurassic Park, or has too much money to care, because rumor has it that he’s going to try to clone a dinosaur from DNA so he can set it free in his new Palmer Resort in Coolum, Australia whether we like it or not. Let’s just hope he hires a better dinosaur supervisor.

According to Sunshine Coast Daily, while Palmer has not released an official statement, a source close to the billionaire revealed that “he has been in deep discussion with the people who successfully cloned Dolly the sheep to bring his dinosaur vision to life.” Plans for his resort are also said to include “20-story sky needle and a giant, London Eye-style ferris wheel.”

Of course, any claim with the words “dinosaur” and “clone” in it is bound to be met with skepticism — according to The Brisbane Times, another source close to Palmer categorized the rumors of a Jurassic Park-style amusement park as “absolutely ridiculous.” But hey, this is the same guy that plans on building a functional replica of the Titanic, so maybe “absolutely ridiculous” isn’t a far off label for this eccentric billionaire.

So what’s it going to be, Palmer? Are you going to clone the world some dinosaurs, or will we have to be content with traveling to Universal Studios and riding the Jurassic Park ride? If you do build this park, will you be using a Unix system? Is this even possible? There are just so many questions!

But really, if this turns out to be a real thing, would you go? Or would you stay far, far away, knowing that the park would always be one power shortage away from a T-Rex on the loose?
Yay?

Maybe he has a vegan, linux guru 8 year old girl to protect him from loose dinosaurs?

and sense enough to have a backup system that doesn't involve messing with a generator by the raptors turf?

and another girl who can kick raptors out of windows onto wooden poles.

Yeah, that ought to work.

I don't think a massive dinosaur would be any more intimidating than half of the living creatures you can find in Australia.

It has to overcome practical issues, sometimes just throwing money in stuff doesn't mean that they can be made possible. I think you need a member of the same or similar animal species alive for the cloning to succeed and intact DNA of the dinosaur? It doesn't sound that easy to me. Good luck to him though...

There's been plans for years to clone a mammoth by impregnating an elephant with a mammoth/elephant hybrid fetus. I don't think it ever worked. Pulling off a dinosaur would be even more difficult, since they have no living relatives the scientists could use to patch up the holes in the DNA; among other trappings.

They could make a crocodile lay the egg(s), or an ostrich depending on the species they will try to bring back to life. That's, of course, the last step. They need the complete sequence of the dinosaur's DNA in order for this to have a chance of working, which I'm not sure they have.

The Comodo Dragon maybe? ...Can't think of a bigger lizard living on land. And crocodile, I'm not sure if it would work... Crocodiles already existed back then so they're not descendants of the dinosaurs but completely different species. The ostrich might work but I still doubt it...

Well, elephants are very closely related to mammoths, or more accurately was it indian elephant, so it has some degree of success. And as far as I know, they haven't actually tried it yet, it's still in the planning phase...

But the thing is, you can create crossbreeds between different animals(or hybrids as they're called) like liger or even the common mule but they're always infertile meaning that even if you managed to create a new dinosaur or mammoth by making it a hybrid with some living species today, it would be a short life for that species...

And komodo dragons, and birds. Thing is, there's still 65 million years of evolution between them, compared to the ~5000 years with mammoths.

You could actually say that crocodiles are dinosaurs... They're one of the few animals that have stayed almost unchanged(except in size) since the time of dinosaurs, along with sharks.
