Very nice.

It kinda makes a snapshot of the system on a partition of the drive then loads it back.
It's nice to see hibernation being improved, but wouldn't the time savings more than negated by removing/inserting the battery?

I just use sleep so it's (nearly) instant for me.

I hate people who don't understand depreciation.

"I paid $200 seven years ago. Asking $199.99 plus 1 cent."

Well to be fair inflation confuses them and sometimes it really almost completely eliminates depreciation. Like take a case where something gets 3-4 times more expensive down the line...then if you'd take the current market price and depreciate from there you'd probably end up with a figure higher than the original purchase price.

I know depreciation doesn't work like that, but still some could see it like that, and it is one of the ways to potentially calculate the value of something.

Take a house for instance. My parents bought this house 25 years ago for about 300K, it's now worth twice to thrice that purely because of market changes and inflation. With a new coat of paint and some repairs and other renovations we could probably get 1.5mil for it.

Well, houses are an entirely different thing. (Along with gold, etc)

But what I was looking at was an outdoor furniture set on craigslist - They claim to have paid "nearly $500" for it a few years ago, and are expecting to get $425 out of it.

Unless you have some kinda rare piece, furniture value halve as soon as your butt sweat hits it.

Regarding Tarj music discussion, even my mom who is mostly into classical music, some latino, things like il divo, queen, abba etc, likes some of Serj Tankian works, at least the ones i gave her to listen like:

You said it yourself Schumi your not a music person, so i hope this doesn't sound insulting or anything but your not quite the best one to judge music :P.

Just out of curiosity asked my mom about it and she agreed as well, sad but very well played both video and music.

Ever see a 8 year old Mac listed for $800? Power PC. Slower than anything. Poster says "Price is firm, Apple product, will not last long"

Man that boiled my blood.

But I agree. I hate when people do that. Especially with computer parts. See a posting for a 5870 for $75. Under it is a posting for an 8600 for $120. The 8600 poster said "One of the fastest cards, can play any game at max settings".

Not even that. An 8600 GS will struggle running Metro 2033 with 16AA and maxed settings on 800 x 600 at 60fps.

I have stopped playing games on my laptop
Yesterday I spent the whole day trying to figure out why my ps2 had such horrible graphics
for example I was plalying nfs underground 2 and the whole game looked so jaggy and the same looked so clean and smooth on my desktop

So, I went and purchased a dvd component cable, which did not work at all on my ps2, so I went back to the shop and then the seller showed me how to make it work. looking like a fool I came back and found out that on component cable the ps2 gives higher resolution output.

However, nfs underground 2 looked bad as ever. But, tekken 5 look so sharp and clear now that I was really amazed. so I played the entire story mode and unlocked all but one character.

Later on I played one level of scenario campaign mode of tekken 6 on my ps3
I didn't play at all today. Spent the whole day lying down in the bed enjoying the cool weather and watching tv. And I just realized that its 6:30pm here and I havent had any food since last night.

Sometimes I'm really glad I got gaming as my hobby, like today.
Went back to my home place for the weekend, and my brother's working today so I'm all alone in the house.

Don't have my computer or ps3 with me, I got to use this laptop that they have, it's got absolutely no games on it and can barely use a browser without lagging.

Only movies in this house is a couple of children's movies, and there's basically nothing interesting on the tv, and the rest of my family wonders why I don't watch tv...

I can drink a lot of beer if I want to...

Bought 8 Guinness (2x 4packs) at the store on Friday when I got here, because I wanted a few beers to enjoy in the weekend, but 5 went on Friday night and I had barely begun to feel it. Went and bought the last 4pack the store had left, 3 yesterday and 3 today and I got 1 left.

Both Guinness and Newcastle Brown Ale, I can drink it just as I do water.

I highly doubt it would even get past 20 fps maxed out even at 800 x 600, metro 2033 is very demanding.

It takes me 12-13 beers to get drunk, but which point I'm starting to get sick not because of the alcohol, but because I've drank a gallon of carbonated liquid.

Hard liquor is the best option if you really wanna get drunk... A couple shots of some high-proof crap and it'll knock you off your ass, without the bloated feeling of consuming absurd amounts of liquid.
