Continuing Fire Red with Visual Boy Advanced?

So after beating the Elite Four in Fire Red, it brings me straight back to the menu where I have no in game saves. I currently have just one save before the Elite Four on Shift + f2.

I have tried everything from deleting all my save files, changing the Emulation from 62k to 128k + flash Save type (actually I tried every possible save type). But I still can't in-game save. What do I do? I spent forever on these Pokemanz and I really want to continue D:

There is no way around it. You have to start over.
