Sigh
Well having messed around for a day, I can safely say that N64 emulation has not progressed much since the last time I tinkered with it, around 2005. The very best you can expect is decent looking 3D stuff, with horrible 2D (yes that includes all text, logos, OSD elements etc), and numerous glitches that range from irritating to game-breaking. I guess I'll come back in a decade (no, I'm serious). On the plus side, makes me appreciate how good PSX emulation is by comparison |

I had noticed them. But since no one cares about having grotesque 2D assets (sprites, text etc) - not even any decent options like scanlines or full-screen filters - they're not really of interest.

Some of projects do re-texturing of 2d assets as well. Unfortunately, re-texturing takes a bit of time and dedication on the artists doing them and many of the N64 emulators and plugins have stagnated development.

That's great, but it isn't the point of an emulator - I don't want to have to wait for someone to re-create all the assets from every single game I might want to fire up from time to time.
