Analog functions not working
I'm running ePSXe 1.7.0 and am having problems with my analog sticks. I'm using an actual psx controller (says SCPH-110 on the back, came with slim PSOne system) and a USB converter that does not come with a driver CD. In the six years I've been playing on ePSXe I have never had this issue, or any issues with the controls at all. Looking around I find a lot of similar problems but none exactly like mine so I came here to post a thread. I had to rebuild my system a couple of months ago, and today I felt like playing Playstation on an emulator so I set up ePSXe to work with my current hardware and loaded a game. When I set the controller buttons I made sure the analog light was turned on my controller first as always, and all the buttons responded in config. I start playing my game and all of the buttons work except the analog. I checked to make sure this game supports analog controllers and it does, so then I started just having ePSXe load into BIOS to test it and I'm getting the exact same behavior. I looked around on Google and said I should press F5 to turn analog on in the emulator, I've never had to do that before but I hit F5 and the upper right corner said "Analog ON" with the red light. When I do that, none of the buttons work until I hit F5 again to turn it back off. If I turn off analog on my controller and the emulator then the buttons work but the directionals and the analog don't, because I set up the controller in config with the light on (this is expected behavior). Now when the emulator starts up it's saying Analog ON in the top right, which it did before I rebuilt my system but wasn't doing that when I first turned it on today. My USB converter just uses the built in Win7 drivers for gamepads, but since I hadn't plugged in this controller since I rebuilt I restarted to see if that changed anything. Before and after restart all of the controls work properly in "Devices and Printers" in the testing/calibration area. I also use this controller and converter in every emulator I have for any system and some PC games and have never had any problem getting the analog sticks to work, even for game consoles that don't have analog support in their games or controllers. I have some other controllers, so I tried one (SCPH-1200, listed as "DualShock" in the emulator's drop-down menu) and got the same behavior. I have the emulator config set to DualShock but I've also tried it with DualAnalog and that didn't change anything either. Here's a list of everything I've tried: -All of my controller functions work in Control Panel in Win7 -All of my controller functions work in other emulators and PC games -I have the red analog light on my controller on the entire time -All of the controller buttons respond in ePSXe 1.7.0 in the config -With analog activated in ePSXe, none of the buttons on the controller work -With analog off in ePSXe, all of the buttons work except the analog sticks -The behavior is the same whether I'm running a game or just the BIOS in ePSXe -Using a different official controller produces the same behavior -Plugging the controller into the player 2 slot on my converter produces the same behavior -Plugging the converter into a different USB port produces the same behavior (front or back of PC) I don't know what could possibly be causing this bizarre behavior but since nothing I tried works and I can't find it elsewhere on the internet or here specifically I may as well write it up and see if anyone can help. And yes, I can play without analog or on one of my consoles but there's no good reason for the controller to not be working properly, and I prefer to play on my PC. |
