What is VBA-M?

I'm new to handheld emulation but I was told to use VBA as it has the best compatibility of all.

I'm wondering what VBA-M is? How does it differ from VBA?

It's a continuation of the now-dead VBA; on offshoot if you will. It fixes many things that VBA had broken.
