epsxe 170 stops working as soon as i try to run a game.
ive recently downloaded epsxe and watched a few different videos about installing it, ive got all the files, the bios and plugins and all. the only games ive downloaded are iso files but anytime i try to run one, the screen comes up, black like a normal game starting but just stops and i get the error msg saying "epsxe.exe has stopped working". ive added an exception for it in the DEP settings but that hasnt helped. i have now tried a few different downloads of the same game, all iso files, they havent worked. I had a ePSXe.exe has stopped working" error too, but after some major head banging i found something out. I did all those tricks already. zlib.dll, aspi, DEP, UAC re-install erase all settings. even went as far as erasing everything and just put the plugs i wanted to use and still got it. The I saw little option that said "enable log". That wonderful black console screen runs along with the emu and it always stopped on "GPU [0] init". so for the heck of it I tried using the pec plug and software plug. GASP! it worked! went back to use just the peop soft plugin and got the error again. At the point I tried the pec plug and configured it with Pete's open GL2 plug and click nice. it worked again! tried the D3D plug, it worked. Almost all plugs worked via the PEC plugin. simple settings and sky high settings they all worked!! So for those of you having that issue and have the pec plug even if you don't use it, try it! I don't know if you get the black screen, but try anyway. There some hacks in the eternal SPU that fix some specific games like FF8, and some in the Pete video plugs too. investigate, use that little log thing. I did! and now I am content...actually I'm sleepy after all that really!
