Speeding up OpenGL renderer

Is this possible with NO$GBA? Some games, like GTA:CW, have severe graphic anomalies (i.e. wireframe headlight beams) with default NO$GBA renderer, but using OpenGL corrects the problem. But then the frame rates turn to crap. Is there any special plugin, filter, or technique that gets games using OpenGL renderer to acceptable frame rates on a mid-end system? (dual core AMD 2.2 GHz).

If you use No$GBA 2.6a, a few EXs of No$Zoomer might help. For details, consult the linked thread in my sig.
