[Wii] Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Official Thread)

Super Mario Galaxy 2, the sequel to the smash-hit galaxy-hopping original game, includes the amazing gravity-defying, physics-based exploration from the first game, but is loaded with entirely new galaxies and features to challenge and delight players.
On some stages, Mario can pair up with his dinosaur buddy Yoshi and use his tongue to grab items and spit them back at enemies. Players can also have fun with new items such as a drill that lets our hero tunnel through solid rock.

  • Progressive Scan: Enabled

DSP Settings

  • Audio Backend: OpenAL - only use this before getting first (and maybe others) Grand Star + turn all audio in Dolphin settings off

Screenshots/Videos

Known Problems

Minor texture bugs here and there, black screens in different spots with Direct3D plugin. Music cuts out like in first Mario Galaxy.

Overall

The game seems to be playable, full speed most of the time on my system. Playing the game with real Wiimote & Nunchuck will provide you sensation as playing the game on the Wii.

Status: Playable

I'm surprised nobody made this thread yet lol :P

A little tip for people with powerless computer like mine . If you want more speed, you can play in window mode using a resolution of 640*480 and activate AA x2.5. This is the best way to get more or full speed in Mario Galaxy 2

Just a note. Not sure if anyone has this error, but it seems after obtaining the first grand star the game freezes after the sequence where Mario gets the star.

May be a bad dump of the game, dont know, just putting it out there.

@iNexXxuS, the trick is that you should switch the audio backend to OpenAL, turn the volume off and play through the whole stage, obtain the star, save and continue like normal

Edit: Oops, something wrong with box art pic not showing up, gotta fix it

It's ok for the first boss but dolphin crash/black screen already with the second boss, and this trick doesn't work with this stage...!

Any idea to solve this problem?

edit=>save work great with svn4783 and this trick, fully playable at 1080p and AA*8!!!

I am surprised with is here where the great iNexXxuS in short, friends introduced me draculord'm known as Latin America as the Lord emulation'm Spanish, so the game of mario galaxy works very well in terms of wing speed and graphics but has failed before referred by colleagues in this great forum to detail is that, mario galaxy can reach 60 frames fluids but only achieved in a single dolphin emulator Emulator 4642 runs like a light wing console even higher speed that is flawed only by making yoshi to take things or objects as we are compiling this and solve this problea now to pass the stage of the dragon I recommend you change sound plugin, this I will have to make the game two times I'm in the final stage and this Believe me cool, clear that everything happens in the emulator so Savene and juguen and disfrutendlo and do not forget to visit 3 Vs doubles:

Update to the latest revision, this was solved in revision 5457. You might also need to delete the old files in /user/ShaderCache.

SMG 2 Save File NTSC

Been playing through Super Mario Galaxy 2 a little and am now up to world 4. Here's a save file (NTSC-U) if anyone wants it, i know a few people have had some trouble getting past the grand stars. At least this way you can play the different levels even if they are completed.

Even though some people cant get the trick to work, keep trying it does work
Disable all audio options and use openAL as the audio backend. Make sure you're using the DSP-HLE plugin too

I just wanted to mention in Super Mario Galaxy 1 there is a really weird bug.
Wenn changing the camera angle to Mario's sight (meaning pressing up on the D-Pad) the entire screen goes black but the game still continues. The music is still running and I can jump and everything I just can't see anything.
It's the same when fighting bosses like Bowser.
When I'm first hitting him everything goes black. I can't play when I can't see anything so I can't complete the first one but I wanted to complete Galaxy 1 before starting with Galaxy 2 so... anyone got a sollution for this bug ?

You should report it to the developers, I've noticed little weird bugs such as that, and it seems to affect a few other games as well.

This "game issue" is already reported here. AFAIK, it could be problem in the DX9 plugin caused by some of its options (I only seem to get it when using SSAA 4x or higher)...

Am wondering if someone could reproduce this bug in the real machine because right now am unsure if its a Dolphin bug as it doesn´t happen always but sometimes. to reproduce the bug just watch this video and follow the steps(sorry for the lags in the video but my wife was streaming a video over the network and the decoder uses some resources ):

Note:
@ES has nothing to do with the bug as its just rendering the game using a instance of dolphin.
