My Fun w/ 3d studio max =P

Most o' the modeling I did myself. some was donated by friends etc etc. All fully mapped in 3d studio max. First is of "paradise" I used base bryce skymapping, and world coordinates for the background.

The next was a lord of the rings theme. Was going to put the saying in the center... Done using lathe modeling in 3dstudio max, and textured using a tarnished gold material. then aplying a volumetric effect in a torus around it.

3D Studio MAX is commercial software. It is not freeware. Website: http://www.discreet.com/products/3dsmax/

Nice work!

I think there is a 'freeware' version of 3dsmax. Isn't it called 3d studio LE or personal edition? They brought it out so people could make their own quake models... don't have a url.

If you're interested in learning Maya, theres a free access version of the program here.

Very nice shots. I never could figure out how to use the program, so I deleted it.

Sure, I'll do the sword thing, It's just that I have been busy with schoolwork... Now what kind of background do you want. And what kind of sword? katana? Broadsword?

Yeah, it isn't freeware though. I got it via a 3d modeling class at my school. We got it for taking the elective. It's 3 thousand dollar software . Joke's on them.

What??? Acctually the school bought every copy...
Well they bought one copy, and 350 liscences.. The origional copy cost 3500 dollars. But each liscence cost only $50, so they were allowed to install it on 350 other machines.. And gave a copy out to every student taking the class. It was 100% legal... there was not piracy involved.
